Idle Acres

Idle Acres was formed by Howie Winkler,(vx,guitars) Allen Griffin,(drums,vx) and Joel Land (bass,vx)around 2019. Winkler and Griffin met through mutual musician friends and quickly realized theyshared musical chemistry that warranted a formal project. Adding Land to the mix was a naturalprogression based on longtime friendships and prior projects. All 3 original members have long been active in the Jacksonville music scene with bands such as The Mayberrys, and Tuffy among many others. They recorded their debut album“Before the Credits”(2024) starting in 2022 at Chase Park Transduction studios with engineer/honorary member Ryan Engleberger (Curt Castle) on the tail end of the pandemic. The album started as expressions of 3 friends who enjoy making music together, but soon evolved to include multiple layers and instrumentation, allowing the album to organically accent the spaces that live between the notes.It has orchestral and anthemic elements, but is anchored around the 3-piece band from which it began.
